The city of Lafayette, Indiana is a home to history, arts, and community. Purdue University's strong influence of the area creates a perfect place for culture, sports, and festivals.

The beautiful downtown area has three districts of localized attractions and venues.

The Chaucey Village District

The Chaucey Village District is closest to the university and offers a lot for those looking for Purdue tradition and memorabilia. If you're in the area for a Purdue football game or looking for fun nightlife, Chaucey makes a great destination.

The Wabash Riverfront District

The Wabash Riverfront District is full of sights to see. Spanning the river, locations like the John Myers Pedestrian Bridge, Tapawingo Park, and the Tippecanoe County Courthouse are all at the riverfront. Some of the largest events in the city take place in the district.

The Arts and Market District

And the Arts and Market District is for the cultural lover. The district is full of boutiques, galleries, and museums, including the weekly farmers market and the Long Center for the Performing Arts where the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra performs. And just south is the magic of the Haan Museum Sculpture Garden, where a stroll through art and garden can make the afternoon.

Prophetstown State Park

Just at the edge of Lafayette are marvelous natural locales where you can breathe easier. Prophetstown State Park, the newest state park in Indiana, sits at the intersection of two rivers. The region is steeped in early pioneer and Native American history. (Bonus fact: Tecumseh once lived in this area.)

Several short trails are available for hiking, and the Aquatic Center offers pool fun with a huge water slide, lazy river, and body flume. The Farm at Prophetstown is a unique area that visitors can explore 1920's farm life alongside Native American culture, all on 900 acres of restored prairie.

Wolf Park

Also in the area is the exciting Wolf Park. Home to wolves, coyotes, foxes, and bison, the park allows guests to get up close to the packs and see them in the wild.
